China Daily is looking for energetic full-time reporters who are passionate about journalism to cover local news in different regions and cities in China. The people we hire will regard accuracy as an absolute pillar to good reporting. We especially appreciate self-directed people who understand social and business news reporting and good story-telling. The China Daily newspaper group is looking for English-language copy editors and senior copy editors to strengthen its international team. Senior business editor 2006/05/17
You will assist the business editor in setting goals and working on achieving them.

You should be an excellent team person who can generate ideas and think creatively, be able to rewrite totally if needed and mentor less experienced staff.

Ideally, you are working, or have worked, in a position of responsibility and understand what leadership entails.

You should be familiar with computer programs used in the industry.

Business copy editors 2006/05/17
You will work on shifts on the business copy desk (generally, 2-10 pm) and usually have the last word before the page is sent to print.

You have to edit or rewrite copy and write snappy headlines and captions.

We ask that you have two years of editing experience working on editing desks and be familiar with industry software.

 

Business writers 2006/05/17

You would have been a writer/reporter in a newspaper for at least two years and, depending on your skills, you will be assigned to one of the major departments.

 

Senior graphic designer 2006/05/17
You must:

Have excellent skills in information graphics;
Be good with illustrations and freehand drawings;
Be experienced in newspaper or magazine layouts;
Have a good sense of typography;
Have good news judgment;
Be well-versed with Macintosh software: Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop;
Be fluent in English.
