课堂准备:

   1.学生准备一张纸和一只笔。教师准备粉笔黑板即可。PPT根据需要决定。

   2.课堂座位安排可以根据人数适当分组,每一小组学生为一圈,头尾相接。如果只有一个学生,老师和学生形成一个圈。本课例22位学生参与,分7,7,8三组。

   课堂操作:

   1.教师指导学生在白纸上写上故事的六要素:5W+1H,即Where, When, Who What, Why, How。写好往下传。各组最后一个同学给第一个同学。

   2.指导学生在白纸上写好Where的内容后往下传。此过程重复直到写完How 为止。这时候让学生再往下传一次。

   3.学生拿到完整版故事的六要素,给学生充分思考时间,将所有要素连成一篇有情节有趣味的文章。

   4.要求学生将自己的故事与前一位和后一位学生分享,这样每个学生就有三个故事可以比较。也有了两次锻炼口语的机会。

   5.邀请三个小组,每组一位代表成员站在台上分享组内最喜欢的一个故事,训练英语演说能力。

   6.增加词汇训练,以delight为例;增加语法训练,以强调句句型It is... that....为例。要求学生发挥小组智慧,把这两个内容加入到原来的故事中。考察学生对于词汇和语法的理解。

   7.邀请各组学生再次分享故事,并且全班一起关注词汇和语法的应用。

   8.活动结束,提醒学生可以课后继续提升或分享自己的故事。鼓励学生只要大胆开口,口语一定会提升。

   亮点:

   1.以学生为中心,提高学生参与课堂的兴趣和积极性,有效地训练了学生的思维能力和语言能力,这尤其符合新课标对于学生英语素养的要求。 

   2.适合低中高各个英语水平阶层和不同年龄阶段学生的英语教学,对于班级人数和教学课型也没有要求,均能适用。 

   3.突破口语教学的限制,也能与传统课堂词汇、句型语法等教学与复习相结合。 

   4.准备简单,操作容易,富有创造性,注重课堂生成,使得课堂效率最大化。

   ELT- FUN STORY TELLING

   Preparation:

   1. One pen and one piece of paper for each student, blackboard/whiteboard and chalks for the teacher, PPT if needed.

   2. Students in a circle, either in groups or only in one group as long as the first student is connected to the last one. (if only one student is involved, the student and the teacher can be a group). 22 students in this teaching episode are divided into three groups, two with 7 students and one with 8 students. 

   Procedure:

   1. Ask students to write down six elements for a story- 5W+1H on their paper, i.e. Where, When, Who What, Why, How and pass it on when finishing. It means the last student will pass his paper to the first student. 

   2. Guide students to write down a place for Where and then pass it on like before. This routine repeats until the six elements for a story are completed. Now, each student gets a paper with exact elements for a story. 

   3. Give students time to create a logical and fun story by using all these elements on their paper.

   4. Require students to share their story with students before and after them. In this way, each student will have at least two chances to practice their oral English and have three stories at hand. 

   5. Invite students from each group to the platform to share one of the favorite stories they hear or create, which can contribute their public speaking skills. In this teaching episode, three students are invited to represent their group.

   6. Practice students’ vocabularies, taking “delight” as an example and review their understanding of emphatic sentences, by giving the sentence structure “it is... that...”. Ask students to add these two into their original stories also in a logic and accurate way, but by group wisdom this time. 

   7. Invite the same students to share their stories again and check the using of the vocabulary and sentence structure with the whole class to strengthen their understanding of them. 

   8. End the activity by encouraging students to perfecting and sharing their stories after class and reassuring them the reality of good oral English through continuous practicing. 

   Benefits:

   Inspire students with a learning interest and motivation and thus facilitates students language and thinking ability.

   Suit students of different age groups and levels, from beginner to advanced learner; suit classes of different sizes, big or even one-to-one private tutoring and suit lessons of different training goals, from vocabulary to grammar. 

   3. Easy to set up and very little preparation time but with a fruitful and dynamic creation.
