The competition will be run in two stages: monthly winners (shortlisting) and the grand final (overall winner). The closing ceremony and final prize giving will be held in December.
Stage 1: Monthly winners - from March to November 2018
Submission of online entry form and video.
The closing date for submissions will be on the 24th of each month, at which point entries for the following month will be opened. Results will be made public on the first working Monday of each month. Repeat nominations will be accepted, but will not progress if the nominee is a previous monthly award winner.
A panel of judges (drawn from British Council and partner organisations) will judge each months’award, following an initial shortlisting made by the public vote (using number of likes) and professionalism. The 20 most popular entries will proceed to the judges who will assess the entries using the given judging criteria. The decision of the judges will be final.
The winning monthly entry will be posted on the website along with comments from the judges on why they have been selected and each of the top 20 entries will receive a small consolation prize.
Stage 2: Overall winner – December
The monthly winners will each record a video of themselves delivering the activity described in their winning entry.
These “demos” of the winning activities will proceed to the grand final and the overall annual winner will be selected by the panel of British Council judges.
Videos should not exceed 15 minutes long and they must be of the same activity described in the monthly winning entry.
Students or any other person who present in the videos will need to sign an Image Consent Form and Child Protection Form.
The final winner will be announced at the award ceremony in December.
We very much look forward to recognising teachers for sharing their love and appreciation of the English language! We also believe that these videos will become a useful resource for teachers across China to share best practice and ideas.
