My name is Michael Silva, I am the President, CEO and one of the founders of the Maison Group and MaisonWorleyParsons which is the largest International Engineering and Construction Company in China. I arrived in China in 1995 as President of Kvaerner John Brown China, and established an engineering and project management office to support their international clients investing in China. In three years we built a successful operation of 120 people and developed significant inroads into China for Kvaerner John Brown. In 1999, I left the company and with four Chinese partners established our own engineering company called the Maison Group to focus on chemical engineering.
Today in only seven (7) years MaisonWorleyParsons has grown into the largest international engineering company in China with over 1,300 employees and very successful. We have been the most successful international engineering company to localize as 99% of my top management is Chinese nationals that have developed into excellent leaders
In addition to my growing profession in China, I have a strong sense of social responsibility and have made donations to a number of under-privileged children in Beijing inflicted with cancer. I have raised money for Operation Blessings a Beijing charitable organization to assist in funding cancer treatment for these children.
I also in 2004 had the honor of being selected as one of the 143 runners from all over China to take part in the Beijing Athens Olympic Torch Run in 2004. I have been in China for over 12 years and consider this my home.
