I am a 85 year old Canadian woman living in Beijing for the past 12 years. Why do I stay? I'm still studying Chinese...I'm still trying to understand Chinese culture...the history of China covers such a long period of time, I'm still trying to grasp it...and I'm still having a great time! Olympics 2008 in China will be the most thrilling event that I will have witnessed. Carrying a torch for China...I guess thats what I am doing already! Carrying the Olympic torch would be the greatest honour.

Beverly would be a great torch bearer.- a brilliant choice.In her life she has tried to link China and Canada- this would be one more way of doing it.

I am Beverley's daughter-in-law in Toronto, Canada, and I can only hope that some of her vigour rubs off on me. She has lived in many countries in her life, but China seems to have captured her soul more than any other. What an honour it would be for her to be able to carry the torch, and make her family and many friends so proud.

I met Beverly when she visited her son in California a couple of years ago. She hiked with our hiking group and we could not hold her back! She is incredibly strong for her age. She was a big inspiration to all that she met on her visit. You don't have to compete in the Olympics to impress people and you can't let something like age stand in the way of keeping your body strong. Her backbone was more straight than most people I know in their 50's! Goooooooooo Beverly!!
