I am Werner Ebel and I was born in East Berlin, German Democratic Republic (GDR).
My whole life I’m a sport enthusiast and always I dreamed to attend during the
Olympic Games. You know without dreams the life is nothing..
Now I work since February 2006 in Zhengzhou on a High Speed Railway Project and
the few German people here in our project have a good relationship with the
executing engineers in this project. Every time friendly, balanced, busy… it is like
magic to see how Chinese people construct so many things in a short time..
Also I find in this time the Love of my life – a Chinese lady…
The Olympic spirit was always included in my heart; it is known that Sport in the GDR
was more promoted during that time. However, Sport is a life-support system –
important for all people, for a good feeling of wellness every day, for a good
relationship all over the world and last but not least helpful for the health care system
in every country. So I’m a grandfather – my granddaughter is just more than one year
old, and I frequently exercise running at my age of 51 years also in Zhengzhou. Last
year I joined without registration on the Xi’an City-Wall International Marathon and in
this year (November 3) I shall join once more. All people are invited to register . …

我叫艾贝尔，出生在德国民主共和国时期的东柏林。从小我就是一名体育爱好者，总是梦想有一天我也能参加奥林匹克运动会。
2006 年2 月，我来到中国郑州市，开始参与郑西铁路客运专线工程项目的建设（郑西铁路可是中国第一条设计时速达到350km/h 的高速铁路噢！）。很快，我们和中国工程师建立了良好的工作关系，工作虽然忙碌，但气氛总是那么友好、和谐！中国工程建设的速度让我感到像变魔法似的那么快！更重要的是，我在中国找到了我的真爱！
奥运精神时刻感染着我！体育锻炼是我生活中的一部分，它让我每天都有一个良好的精神状态。
现在51 岁的我已经当爷爷了，有一个可爱的孙女，但在郑州我还是坚持经常的跑步锻炼。去年，我还参加了西安绕城墙国际马拉松比赛。所以今年我真切希望能成为2008 北京奥运会火炬手，弘扬奥运精神。希望大家都能投我一票！
